On September 29, the finals of the 13th National College Student Information Security Competition Innovation Practice Ability Competition came to an end at the National Cyber Security Talent and Innovation Base Exhibition Center. A total of two representative teams from our school participated in the competition. The "2:30 AM" team composed of the School of Computer science and the School of Software won the second prize of the national competition and the special prize of the Central China Competition area, and the other team won the second prize of the Central China Competition area.
The competition was sponsored by the Cyberspace Security Teaching Steering Committee of higher Education institutions of the Ministry of Education and the Cyber Security Special Project of China Internet Development Foundation, undertaken by Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and sponsored by Huawei Technologies Co., LTD. A total of 4,736 participants from 1,184 teams entered the competition, and 80 teams entered the finals after the online preliminary contest and the online VPN sub-competition. The competition covered 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities. The competition is the highest level of professional college students' discipline competition in the field of information security in China, and has been included in the national academic discipline competition ranking list of ordinary universities.
In recent years, under the guidance of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important thought of becoming a cyber power, we attach great importance to the training of cyber security personnel by following the Opinions on Strengthening the Discipline Construction and Personnel Training of the Cyberspace Administration of the CPC Central Committee, The National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Education and other six departments. Many teachers have devoted themselves into the competition guidance work, building learning platforms for students, cultivating students' innovation awareness and teamwork spirit, and improving students' innovation level and domestic competitiveness.
DROPS Attack and Defense Training Camp was established in 2014 by the College, and a number of professional teachers participated in the guidance work.
